2013, In A Word.

So many things happened in 2013 that I've never thought would happen in my life. There were somethings lost, somethings gained. There were laugh, but there were also cries. There were hope and there were also darkness. I don't know if I've become stronger or weaker. I don't know what kind of experience waiting for me in 2014.

But, I'll deal with it as it come to me.

As for 2013, there is only one word I can think of to summarize it.

"CHALLENGING"

Wishing  Everyone of You A Happy New Year.
And May The Odds Will Always Be in Your Favor ♥

Reviews: Special Thanks to Essence Cosmetics Malaysia for the Gift! ~^^

Recently I was chosen as the winner for the 23rd day of Essence Cosmetic Malaysia advent calendar giveaway, and yesterday the prize finally reached my doorstep. To be honest, at first when they announced my name on Essence Malaysia Facebook page, I thought that it wasn't me! Due to slight mistake on the last name (which I'm not sure if its my fault or not--I probably made a typo in the raffle haha).

Mine is supposed to be "Anis Farhana Aliman" whilst it was "Anis Farhana Amin" in the post. So I had my doubt. What if there is actually someone that have a name similar to me? So I didn't held my hope high. Haha, funny right?

So when the parcel arrived, it was a very delightful surprise for me ♥
Thanks again!

Therefore, in gratitude I decided to make a quick reviews on the products that I received.

I came across Essence Cosmetics when I was browsing products in Watson store about a month ago. For your information, this brand is relatively new in Malaysia, although they are already well known across the globe. Originating from German, this brand has been around since 2002 and they does not do any testing on animals. So extra yayyy for that :)

So these are the lists of products I received:

1. Essence LASH Mania Reloaded Mascara

about product :
"...accurately grips your lashes to give them a push-up effect and give lashes extreme volume and a dramatic false-lash look. secret tip: the LASH mania reloaded mascara offers perfect separation and can therefore also be used as a mascara topper."

my review:
"..i really love the applicator. it doesn't make my eyelashes stick on each other and it feels lightweight too. Although its main purpose is for falsies, I find it okay on my lash!"

2. Essence Eyeliner Pen (01 Black)

about product:
" ..the eyeliner with original japanese ink ensures an absolutely accurate line. ideal for on-the-go"

my review:
"..perfect for touch up. easy to use and able to draw fine line with its small tip. the shade is not dark black, but its perfect to be use as a outer guide before you fill it with darker shade."

3. Essence Kajal Pencil (01 Black)

about product:
"..essence kajal pencil creates fashionable color highlights on your eyes in cool and trendy colors to ensure a totally individual style. also available in other shades"

my review:
"..this pencil has a very dark shade but it does smudge a little. I think it would be perfect to be use when you want to create a smokey/smudging effect using eyeliner."

4. Essence Mono Eyeshadow (01 Chill Out)

about product:
"..the popular mono eyeshadows ensure color highlights on your eyelids and are sure to give all girls that extra-special added touch. available in other shades too"

my review:
"..the one I got is a shimmering white eyeshadow. I think you can also use it as a highlighter too."

5. Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow
(01 Jewel Up the Ocean, 04 Sparkle All Night & 05 Chocolate Jewellery)

about product:
"..metallic and shimmering effects on your eyes are the ultimate trend! the especially soft texture with extremely high coverage and metallic results creates expressive eye make-up guaranteed to be eye-catching! the range of colors is huge.."

my review:
"..just like its name, these eye shadows does provide a very glittery effect. the level of pigmentation is medium, and very suitable to be used for a party/concert look. It does have a little fall out and a bit chalky when i swatch it using my makeup brush so I have to be a little careful about it. My favorite one out of three is the turquoise blue one called Jewel Up the Ocean "

6. Essence Quattro Eyeshadow (07 Over the Taupe)

about product:
".. quattro styles. different textures ranging from silky shimmering to intensive shine ensure unlimited creativity with your eye make-up. perfectly aligned shades, excellent color-dispersion and long-lasting results"

my review:
"..i love this small palette since I can carry it in my bag for touch up. the colours consist of two lighter matte shades and another two has a shimmering effect."

Burnout (light pinky-peach satin)
Limit (light dusty rose matte)
Buzz (metallic rose shimmer w/silver micro-glitter)
Trick (light metallic pinky-copper shimmer w/tonal micro-sparkle)
 Nooner (medium pinky-brown matte)

Factory (pinky-brown satin)

Funky Eyeliner Craze: Swatches and Review [My Collection]

Hello lovelies ^^

It has been known among my close knit friends that I am so obsessed with eyeliners.
I can live a day without a blusher, or a lip gloss, but not without eyeliner.

Therefore I've bought quite a variety of eyeliners from different brands and colours over time.
But in this post, I'm going to focus on my funky colours eyeliners first.
I will be writing another post for my black eyeliners collection some day.

Firstly, I would like the mention that I'm not being paid for writing this, and the opinion in this blog post is strictly mine and might vary with others.

So these are my funky colours eyeliners that I have.
So far, I've bought nine different eyeliners. Three of them are in the blue shade, one in emerald-ish green, one in purple, one in hot pink, two in brown shade and one in white.

Swatches

These are the details of each of them:
(Starting from the first eyeliner from the left)

1. Silky Girl Funky Eyelights Pencil in #13-Ever Green
2. Silky Girl Funky Eyelights Pencil in #11-Electric Blue

For eyeliner (1) and (2), these two I bought during a sale at Watson this month. So they are quite new in my collection.  I think the price for one eyeliner is about RM15.90 but I got both on a buy one free one offer.
Such a bargain right?

It's also very pigmented, doesn't smudge that easily unless being rubbed on hard. But it's also very easy to clean. It's glittery and are easy to apply with smooth application

3. Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in #16-Coolest Chic

As for this one, I wasn't planning to buy anything but ever since I heard Essence brand came into Malaysia, I can't stop myself from checking out their products. There are several variety of colours for this particular Essence product, but I ended up buying a purple coloured one since I don't have any similar shade yet.
The price is about RM11.00

It's very affordable considering that Essence Cosmetics has been around for quite awhile. In overall I'm very pleased with the product with the price I bought it. Planning to buy another eyeliner from Essence next time. It's in a metallic grey-ish shade.

By the way, you can get them at selected Watson store. And trust me, you'll end up standing for quite a long time at the rack because their products is so cheap and affordable!
I really love their Eyeshadow brush and Blending brush.

4. Eliantio Celestial 2 in 1 Eyeliner in Moonlight Blue

First, I would like to say that I have no idea why they named it 2 in 1. I don't see any 2 in 1 features on it. But whatever~ because I really like Elianto products and this particular shade of blue is one of my favourite for me to wear to class.
It's a very dark navy blue colour, which won't seem too much when you're attending classes. It sometimes look black than blue, and I really like it for that; and it's more matte than shiny.

I don't really remember the price for this one either, but probably in between range of RM19-RM 25.
My best bet is RM19.90.

5. Too Cool For School Dinoplatz High Line Eye Pencil in Pink (No 2)

This one is probably the most expensive eyeliner that I have in my collection. It dries almost immediately after applying and have a shimmering metallic effect. The eyeliner has very cute packaging but the only downside is it gets easily stained since the packaging colour is white (but hey, who cares right? its just packaging). I rarely use this one because it is the most funky and bold colours in my collection but if you're planning to go to a concert or a party and have extra budget, this brand would be a good candidate. It seriously stays on your eye for quite a long time.

I'm not very sure about the price. But I think it's between RM50-RM60.
I bought it when Too Cool For School announced their first Malaysia branch opening in Bangsar Village.

Oh by the way, TCFS is a Korean cosmetic brand.

6. Etude House Bling In The Sea Proof 10 Auto Pencil #BR403-Star Brown

This one is not really a funky colour, but I just want to review it in one go. This eyeliner is in a shimmery brown shade and I like to use it on my waterline. Has a smooth application and stays on quite long after it dries up.

I don't know the Malaysia price for this one since I bought it straight from Korea.

7. The Face Shop "Make Me Star" Waterproof Gel Liner in #05-Sky Fever

This shade is very similar to Sily Girl Electric Blue eyeliner but it comes with a sponge like smudger at the other end. It has a smooth application and stays on very long. I went to a concert wearing this eyeliner and it still significantly stays on my eyelids even after I came back (roughly more than 12 hours).

The price is between RM 20-RM25, don't remember it.

8. Etude House Styling Eyeliner #02-White

I bought this one for my waterline since its white.
It has a shimmering effect, but it does get smudge easily
I sometimes use it for highlights since it's very easy to blend

Price unknown.
P/s: I don't think they have this in store anymore.

9. Elianto Stay On Eyeliner Pencil #02-Dark Brown

This eyeliner has a matte finish on it. It is one of earliest Elianto product that I tried and its easy to apply. The only downside of this eyeliner is it somehow could get very dry sometimes (rare case) and it became hard to apply but the same black one that I have doesn't have the same problem.

Price is probably around RM18.90

Smudging Test

 Rubbing with Water

I actually conducted one more test which is to scrub harder (instead of rubbing) with water. But unfortunately this silly writer has mistakenly deleted the picture.

But from that test, scrubbing on the swatches with water (and no other soap) managed to completely remove almost all colour swatches except for the Too School For School Highline Eye Pencil (pink eyeliner), The Face Shop "Make Me Star" Waterproof Gel Liner (Sky Fever) and Etude House Bling In The Sea Proof 10 Auto Pencil (BR403). These three swatches still have some residual that needed to be removed with facial cleansing product or soap.
