I think I am undeniably good at finding a way to torture myself. It's ten at night and I suddenly have the mood to write about the food tasting session I had a few weeks back in Pretz n' Beanz at Solaris Mont Kiara. Well, it's better to write when the inspiration is here so I guess I'd be scouring for some foods in the kitchen after finishing this review. LOL. I highly respect full-time food bloggers, I wonder how they cope with all the cravings while writing!
Anyway, before Pretz n' Beanz the only pretzel related place I've ever known is the famous Auntie Anne's chains. I don't really like the salty pretzel snacks sold in supermarkets so my experience with pretzel is quite limited. When I first got invited to the restaurant and found out that they serve other types of pretzel-based foods like 'pretzel pizza', I was quite mindblown. #noobdetected It made me curious too. I mean what is so special about pretzel dough compared to normal pizza dough in other pizza places? So I tried to make myself useful and googled it.
The first question I had in my head? What is a pretzel and how it first came into this world? I know it's kind of pointless but I guess my love for history does make me want to learn about the origins of everything. Haha! According to Wikipedia, it is a type of pastry originated from Germany. I tried to read on but the explanation are all too confusing but if you want to know more maybe you check it out. *giggles* The only other thing I learned from Pretz n' Beanz is that pretzel dough is softer when it is used to make pizza and that they use 100% natural ingredients without any preservatives. But I can't seem to find a more scientific explanation for all the mumbo jumbo of how it can get softer. So any bakers out there that can clarify this?
Checking out the dining area, it's very cozy and have a laid back feel to it. I arrived at the restaurant around 8PM so it was not as crowded yet. The place open until midnight so as I hang around, I noticed more people start to come in around 9PM-10PM. I like the rustic feel on the interior, lot's of 'insta-worthy' area to feature too. LOL! You can choose to dine on the outside or inside.
Food review won't be fun without the perfect partner so I asked my blogger friend Aliza Sara to accompany me.We had so much fun that night trying out a total of three beverages and five different dishes. Yeah, they are all just for the both of us! Now, let's get on into my opinion for each of the menu we had that night.
Nothing can go wrong with a Cinnamon Sugar pretzel. It's my one favourite flavour to have on pastries too, so I didn't miss the chance to try one from Pretz n' Beanz. The soft pretzel and slight crunchiness from the sugar grains made it fun to eat this. Definitely for the sweet tooth people! This place doesn't scrimp on ingredients so the topping coats the pretzel nicely too.
This menu is just perfect for breakfast! It's so yummy! The poached eggs on top of raw salmon slices are just amazing. I love the balance with the bread and salad altogether, making the menu less heavy. The portion is pretty big as well so if you want to opt for a lighter breakfast, sharing it between two people is not bad. That's what we did that night!
If I have to choose between the green tea latte and the hot caramel latte, I would pick the caramel latte. Mainly because I love a good cup of coffee and secondly, the blend is so nice! The green tea latte is not bad either, it's made of Pretz n' Beanz special blend so a nice 'jasmine'-ish aroma can be found too. I don't know if it's just me though. This Super Charge juice below is Aliza's pick for the night. A healthy juice is also available at Pretz n' Beanz if you want a good vitamin boost!
Corner lot, easy to spot!

Cozy and warm looking dining space

Parmesan Cheese & Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel
Nothing can go wrong with a Cinnamon Sugar pretzel. It's my one favourite flavour to have on pastries too, so I didn't miss the chance to try one from Pretz n' Beanz. We were told to try the Parmesan Cheese pretzel with two different dips; sour cream and cream cheese. Surprising it tasted good and blends well with the savoury taste of the pretzel. As a matter of fact, there is a hint of lightness from the creams that gave each bite a refreshing taste. So it can be it a tad sweet (cream cheese) or sour (sour cream) depending on which dip you choose to add on to your order! It's also not greasy and is big enough to be considered as a full meal. We ended taking home our leftovers because the size is too big.
Tips: You can ask them to cut them into bite sizes so you can share!

Pretz n Stew (Green Curry)
This is hands down the best green curry I have ever tried. I've never been a big fan of green curry. I can't exactly pinpoint why, but the one I had in Pretz n' Beanz is awesome! It's so flavourful and savoury, with the right amount of spice and creaminess. It's pretty spicy but dipping the pretzel in the curry kept making me wanting more! You know, that feeling when you eat something spicy but when the spiciness is gone you crave for more. The chicken is cut nicely in bite size and is tender too. The portion is pretty big so if you have a small appetite, I suggest you to order and share it with a partner. This Pretz n' Stew Green Curry is the dish that stands out the most that night and to be honest, might be the number one reason I will come back to this place. The balance between the pretzel and the dipping is amazing.
Look at that beautiful green. It's making me drool.
Hot Pepper Chili Chicken Pretzel Pizza
One of the highly requested menu in Pretz n' Beanz is this Hot Pepper Chilli Chicken Pretzel Pizza. The dough is pretty soft and chewy and goes along with the topping well. A touch of hotness with the chicken and cheese made the combination flavourful and well balanced. I had two slices and they were already so fulfilling.
